Trafalgar Message

Today is a very important day for myself and those who have served in the Royal Navy. On this day in 1805, Admiral Horatio Nelson led his fleet to victory at the Battle of Trafalgar. From that day on the British dominated the seas and used this to do good; for example a few years later they led the abolition of slave trading across the globe.

It is a reminder that we should try to look for the good in history that shaped our present, as it may help forge a better future.

The Royal Navy core values of courage, commitment, discipline, integrity and loyalty are still relevant today, not just a handrail for leaders but guidance for everyone who is facing challenges in the modern world.
